Updated Rule Book and Character Sheets are now available for download! The v1.1 Incarnation update brings a number of fixes and QoL improvements, including:

  • Rule Book is now available in single page pdf (which should make things much easier to view on small screens and mobile).
  • Increased size of Aspect fields on the character sheet to give players more room to write down boons and curses.
  • Added a key for Target Number modifiers on the Chronicle sheet.
  • Added explanation for 'What I left behind' section.
  • Reworked the effects of 'Compassion'.
  • Tightened up rules text to hopefully make a lot more sense.
  • Fixed some Tarot Events showing the wrong Aspect Symbols.
  • Removed all references to removed/outdated content.
  • Tarot Events now explicitly state what kind of Aspect Test is needed.
  • Rebalanced some Tarot Events.

Plus some general text edits and flavour updates across the board, which I'll leave for the players to discover on their own!

Thanks so much for playing! Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. We'll be updating the TTS mod in future to hopefully make things simpler (and better explained). All feedback is welcome, so please feel free to come back with any questions.

Reading your submission and listening through was a game history/music lesson for me, so thank you for that already! I can see your point about how you improved from tracks 1-25. The notes in '08 Cerberus' were almost upsetting to listen to, whereas later tracks felt like they had a much more controlled sense of foreboding to them (tracks like '17 Remember'). Honestly, though, the whole thing sounded great to me. Texture and Atmosphere are words that definitely came to mind while listening.

The hyperlink text that reveals extra, or hidden, information works really well. I especially like the extra text unveiled from the "breathtaking" link. It's all very unsettling and makes the story you're reading feel like it's covering some darker, uglier truth. Really great read! I hope you make more in the future.

Thanks for checking it out! We'll probably keep updating it after the jam as well.

Loved that your Ammi had 0 posts, 1 Follower, 1 Following. Says a lot about their character so elegantly.

This is legitimately a great speedrunning game. It seems like such a simple collection of tasks to juggle (click button, draw line, get bone), but my mind went completely blank a few times after hitting a lever. Such a cool idea. Loved it!

Yep, you're right. We changed Decisive to Determination at some point, but looks like we didn't update all events. You can assume every reference to Defiance (I think it comes up 4 times?) is meant to be Determination.

As for the Determination+(Acceptance) interaction, according to the rules as written: "If your dice effects ever cause you to simultaneously win and lose, you do neither - it is another stand-off."

It could be written a bit clearer, but your intuition is right - they effectively cancel out. This doesn't mean the face has no effect though. E.g. if you roll up a Determination and a Determination (Acceptance) in an Aspect Test stand-off, you wouldn't pass the test because you have a Win and a cancelled out Win/Fail. You'd still treat this result as neither winning  or losing, so a normal stand-off.

Hope that clears it up a bit. It did my head in a little just thinking about how to explain it. If you run into any more obstacles, please let us know! Your comments are greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback! We're currently reviewing and cleaning up the rulebook, so this helps a ton.

As far as group play goes, the current system would kinda break with multiple people. That said, our original scope was intended for groups - the way dice interact with eachother comes from ideas we had for making co-op dice rolling more fun. Unfortunately, we had to scale things back quite a bit to make the deadline.

We'll be releasing a devlog update alongside a freshly edited, mobile friendly rulebook. Co-op play isn't out of the question, but we'll definitely prioritise polishing the core gameplay first. But hey, stay tuned, we hope to keep updating Incarnation (and other content!) when we can.

Just want to say that I'm very proud to be a part of this project! The art and narrative came together beautifully - the game has a great atmosphere. I hope we can continue to update Incarnation in the future, improving on the idea and making it accessible for everyone. :)
